England last toured to India in 2012-13 under the captaincy of Cook. He returns to India with a relatively new team with only few players from the last series in the squad. England will play five test matches followed by an ODI and T20 series.

Here is the test series schedule:

1st Test at Rajkot - 9 to 13 November 2016
2nd Test at Visakhapatnam - 17 to 21 November 2016
3rd Test at Mohali - 26 to 30 November 2016
4th Test at Mumbai - 8 to 12 December 2016
5th Test at Chennai - 16 to 20 December 2016

India under the captaincy of Virat Kohli stands right at the top of the ICC Test rankings. It would be interesting to see how India can take a revenge from England for their test series loss at home in 2012-13. Then England were a stronger side and India was recovering from some early losses. India went down 2-1 against England and that was one of the very rare test series defeats for India. Since then India has stayed unbeaten in test matches at home.

India has seen success against Sri Lanka and West Indies (abroad matches) and victories against West Indies, South Africa and New Zealand at home under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. He himself is in a great form and would love to see the likes of Pujara, Rahane, Gambhir also contributing to the total.

Indian spin trio would certainly be the biggest threat for the England batsmen. Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra can create a havoc in the opposition tent. With Indian pitches relatively supporting the spinners more, Indians have an upper hand in this series.

Captain Cook and Joe Root would be two batsmen on the radar of Indian spinners. Likes of Stokes and Woakes are aggressive players and can add pressure to the Indian bowling line up. Way South Africa or New Zealand players couldn't tackle Indian spin, England batsmen will have to work hard before they face Ashwin, Mishra and Jadeja.
