India vs Australia 3rd Test Preview

Test cricket in India moves from 'reviewgate' to Ranchi. A lot has happened in last couple of weeks. After losing the first test, India underperformed in the first innings for second test. But a dramatic bounce back brought Australia under pressure and India nailed the second test. It also involved a lot of controversy that involved sledging to reviewgate episode. Finally we are back to cricket and certainly the issues would leave a mark in the next two matches. It would be good to see if India has got enough confidence to clinch the next two matches or would Australia continue their good form from first test and again be the team to beat.

The DRS saga is assumed to be ended amicably. But will it not carry forward any mark in the Ranch test remains a question. Hopefully the focus stays on good cricket.

Indian pitches have been under scanner recently. The Pune pitch was rated poor whereas the Bengalure pitch was termed below average. It remains an exciting factor to see how the Ranchi pitch behaves.

Early reports suggest, the pitch is going to support the spinners more. This would again be a plus point for both Australia and India. For a change the visiting team has got good performances for their spinners. At times, they have looked better than the Indian spinners.

Overall, Indian batting hasn't been upto the mark. The way the batsmen scored runs against England was a completely different story. But the team owes a lot to Pujara and Rahane who stood tall in the second test against the Aussie attack. As far as consistency is concerned, KL Rahul has done a good job so far. Murali Vijay is set to make a comeback to the team at Ranchi.

For Australia, Mitchell Starc is ruled out due to an injury. He is replaced by Pat Cummins. Even Nathan Lyon is troubled by a finger injury. The squad details are mentioned below:
