India vs Sri Lanka 2017 T20 Series - One Sided Affair?

India vs Sri Lanka 2017 T20 Series

With the conclusion of the ODI series, India registered its 8th consecutive bilateral series win thus levelling the record of Australia and still behind West Indies 13 consecutive bilateral series win record from 1970s and 80s.

While the test and ODI series were pocketed by India, the lack lustre Sri Lanka tour were good in patches. The first test match was hard fought especially in the first innings, whereas Sri Lankan bowling was exceptionally well in the first ODI. With Rohit Sharma's explosive 200 in the 2nd ODI at Mohali, India bounced back to win two matches and seal the series.

Now it's time for the exciting T20 series where tables can turn either ways. Or will it be another one sided affair which will be pocketed by the home team? Let's see!

Series Clean Sweep for India or Consolation for Sri Lanka?

When Sri Lanka's tour to India started, experts believed this could be a 9-0 win for India with clean sweep in all the formats. Well that couldn't happen because even if Sri Lankan team wasn't a confident outfit to nail a series win, they managed to bother Indian team in patches. They managed to draw tests and win the first ODI. If not 9-0, India can manage to win the T20 series and attain another clean sweep in this home season.

On the other hand, the visitors are reviving from their lost form. This isn't the spirited team which we saw growing since the mid 90s with likes of Jayasuriya, Ranatunga, Vaas, Muralitharan, etc. We see a lot of new faces and too many trial and errors. Frequent changes in captaincy is also another drawback for the team. Sri Lanka needs consistency in selection and performances along with positive intent and body language. Above all, they need spirited series win in the midst of too many losses. If this team can manage to sneak a victory in this T20 series that can be a consolation for them.

Moving ahead, Sri Lanka tours to Bangladesh for a tri nation series that also involves Zimbabwe. India visits South Africa next for a tough tour where the players in form like Kohli, Dhawan, Bumrah, Bhuvaneshwar, Rohit Sharma, etc have to prove their mettle abroad.

We will be back with a preview of India vs South Africa 2018 series that includes test matches, ODI and T20 cricket. Enjoy live streaming and telecast of this series on SonyLiv and Sony Ten HD channels.
