Build Up

New Zealand were at their prime form in the presence of Brendon McCullum. The team reached the finals of 2015 World Cup just to lose against Australia. Since then they haven't seen the prime again. Even in the last Champions Trophy, they were eliminated early. Having a rejigged squad for the tour to India haven't really solved their problems yet. The middle order is a real issue for the Kiwis. They have experimented a lot of players from position 5 to 7 but with least success.

For India, things have been right on track since the loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy finals. A win in West Indies followed by Sri Lanka's successful tour and win over Australia at home. Team India has registered a lot of records under Virat Kohli. For India, the team line up concerns are not due to out of form players but due to strong in form players sitting on bench. Likes of Jadeja and Ashwin need to be sidelined to include Kuldeep Yadav or Axar Patel.

Trent Boult could be dangerous for the Indian top order. Similarly, Hardik Pandya could be a game changer for team India.

Prediction

While it isn't too hard to predict that India will have an upper hand in the ODI series, New Zealand will give a real tough fight in the T20 series. New Zealand haven't had a good time playing in India and hence the hosts might have an opportunity to register some comprehensive wins. But in T20 matches, India are yet to beat New Zealand. So that makes the overall scenario interesting.
